Subrata Bose, a well known personality of West Bengal politics passed away on 20 January 2016. He was 83. Politically active he served as legislator (2001-2004) from Shyampukur Vidhan Sabha constituency on All India Forward Bloc ticket. A member of the 14th Lok Sabha from Barasat he is survived by his wife and two daughters.
Born on 25 February 1932 Subrata Bose came from illustrious Bose family of West Bengal. He was youngest son of Sarat Chandra Bose and nephew of Subhas Chandra Bose. A bright student since childhood he graduated in arts from the Scottish Church College in 1952. He was an active member of All India Forward Bloc (AIFB)-a left-wing nationalist political party founded by Subhas Chandra Bose. As a legislator he represented Shyampukur Vidhan Sabha constituency. He was a Forward Bloc MP from 2004 to 2009 from Barasat. Leaders from across political parties visited his home to pay their homage to the noble soul.
